Carlota Berruezo

'I have my smile back and I'm proud to support the work of DTUK'

Carlota Berruezo, who lives in south west London, always had strong, healthy teeth.

However, in June 2014, Carlota fell off her bike, and went over the handle bars; landing teeth first. "I didn't know what to do or where to go", she recalls.

Carlota made an appointment to see a dentist, only to find that the professional she saw didn't know what to do, or how to fix the problem.

Eventually, after seeing 5 different specialists at 3 separate clinics, she got the advice and treatment she needed. The dentist she saw saved her smile, but Carlota has learned a lot from the experience, and believes more needs to be done to raise awareness of the basic steps people can take.

She says: "As a person who has had dental trauma, I cannot emphasise enough the need for an organisation and charity like Dental Trauma UK, to educate, support and advise the general public, patients and dental professionals about injured teeth."
